Brief Biographical Information:
Born in 1978 in the United States, Melissa Pfeffer studied Chemical
Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania and is studying for her master's
in Earth Science at the University of New Mexico.
Research:
Melissa Pfeffer's research concerns the development and evolution of
volcanic aerosols as volcanic gases mix with the terrestrial atmosphere.
She built an aerosol sampling device to collect these particles and has
modified it to be able to collect meteoric dust.
Research on Leonid MAC:
The aerosol/dust collection device will be used on board the FISTA aircraft
to search for particles from the dust-trail of the comet in the upper atmosphere,
using an existing window eyeball assembly from AFRL/Stewart Radiance Lab.
