From: Istvan Tepliczky, Hungarian Astronomical Association Meteor Section Date: Wed, 20 Nov 2002 10:13:08 +0100 Short Hungarian Leonid Report for IMO News Members of the Hungarian Astronomical Association observed the outburst of the Leonids from Hungary under poor limiting conditions (limiting magnitude around 4.5-5.0). Before 03:20 UT at 19th of November 2002 the activity was normal, after 3:50 UT the average activity was above ZHR=1000, and several short (some minute long) strong periods was observed with 20-25 meteors/minute (ZHR around 3000-4000). The activity declined after 4:20 UT, partly because of the dusk and the appearance of clouds, but it was still higher than before the outburst. ---- From: Istvan Tepliczky, K. Sarneczky, A. Kereszturi, Hungarian Astronomical Association Meteor Section, Hungary Date: Wed, 20 Nov 2002 22:18:06 +0100 LEONID METEORS 2002 FROM HUNGARY D. Hatvani, \'A Kereszturi, Z. Kuli, F. R\'ozsa, M. R\'ozsahegyi, K. S\'arneczky, I. Tepliczky and A. Borsos (Hungarian Astronomical Association) observed the Leonids from Hungary, between Nov. 19.021 UT (00:30) and Nov. 19.198 (04:45), under poor limiting conditions (limiting magnitude around 4.5-5.0). Before Nov. 19.139 (03:20) the activity was normal, then it increased from 1-2 Leonids per minute per observer to 5-6 Leonids per minute per observer until Nov. 19.160 (03:50). After Nov. 19.160 (3:50) we observed several short (some minute long) peaks. The greatest peak was around Nov. 19.174 (04:10), when each observer observed on the averaged 25 Leonids per minute. There was two lower (15-20 Leonids per minute per observer) peaks at Nov. 19.169 (04:04) and Nov. 19.176 (04:14). The activity declined after Nov 19.180 (04:20), partly because of the dusk and the appearance of clouds, but it was still higher than before the outburst.
